Description
Hand and Power Tools Safety is a 1-Hour NYC Site Safety Training (SST) elective aligned with Local Law 196. It helps workers and supervisors recognize hazards, operate tools safely, and maintain compliance on active jobsites.
- Recognize hazards: electrical, mechanical, ergonomic, flying particles, kickback, and entanglement.
- Operate safely: pre-use inspections, guarding, cord/power management, stable footing, and organized work areas.
- Tool-specific rules: cutting, drilling, grinding, pneumatic, fuel-powered, powder-actuated, and demolition tools.
- Compliance & culture: OSHA/NYC DOB expectations, training records, competent-person oversight.
- Silica awareness: wet methods, HEPA vacuum, LEV, scheduling, and appropriate PPE.
